Anthony Leonardi III is director and artist renowned for world building, with a body of work spanning commercials, film & TV and interactive experiences. He is one of the industry’s most imaginative minds, a go-to creative force for a visually rich, action packed and always entertaining cinematic experience.
Anthony has directed acclaimed Super Bowl spots such as Heineken “No Shrinking and Drinking” ft. Paul Rudd’s Antman, and Coca-Cola “Mini Marvel” with Antman and The Hulk. His credits include many brand partnerships with the Marvel Universe on campaigns for Lexus, Audi and Tide for which “Cloak vs. Tuna Melt” picked up two Cannes Lions. He has also partnered with top agencies on campaigns for major brands’ Old Spice, Chevy, Mountain Dew, Miller Lite, Hyundai, Hertz and more.
Anthony was a Second Unit Director on box office blockbusters Lilo & Stitch and Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. While working at the former commercial production company of the Russo Brothers, Anthony was asked by the Russo’s to work on several Marvel movies - Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Civil War, and Avengers: Endgame. He contributed as a concept artist which led to him designing sequences for the films.
Inspired by a childhood obsession with comic books, Anthony has always been prolific drawing and painting. He earned a BFA in Character Animation and film studies at Cal Arts, and an MFA in directing from The AFI Film Conservatory. He began his directing career with music videos and was also a sought-after storyboard artist. His early credits include directing music videos for Imagine Dragons and Slash, storyboard artist on Gore Verbinsky’s Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End and concept artist on “Game of Thrones.”
Anthony is a 4th generation Angeleno working in media and entertainment. His father, grandfather and great grandfather all worked as carpenters and stand-by painters during the height of the studio system.
