Japanese director Show Yanagisawa began his creative career as an oil painter and live graffiti artist, graduating from Tama Art University in 2005.

With his signature abstract approach to filmmaking, Tokyo-based Show has spearheaded campaigns for global and Japanese brands. In 2016, Show directed ‘High School Girl,’ a reverse transformation spot for the Japanese cosmetic company Shiseido. The ad, with the tagline “Anyone can be cute”, was viewed millions of times picking up numerous awards including Gold honours from Cannes Lions, D&AD, the One Show, the Andy Awards, and the Clios.

In his VFX savvy PlayStation Japan spot ‘Gravity Cat,’ Show literally turned the world upside-down, creating a ground-breaking promotion for the video game Gravity Rush 2.  The four-minute film took home One Show, D&AD, and Andy Awards Golds. The ad was also recognised with a whopping seven Cannes Lions awards made up of one Gold, two Silver, and four Bronze.

His 2023 campaign for Sotetsu ‘Father and Daughter’, which tells a 12-year story about a parent and his daughter’s relationship, made waves throughout the industry for its clever VFX and sentimental story.

In addition to his branded work, Show creates music video, short, long form, and animation film projects.
