Anna Sandilands & Ewan McNicol are an American and English filmmaking duo.
Anna & Ewan are driven by a curiosity to reveal the unnoticed in everyday life. While their work fits some of the traditions of documentary verité filmmaking, one of their aims is to find a deeper understanding and empathy by visually immersing in character and story in ways more often associated with cinematic fictional filmmaking.
Their short films and documentaries have screened at Sundance, SXSW, Tribeca, the BFI, New York’s MoMA, and London’s Institute of Contemporary Art. After being named in Filmmaker Magazines’ “25 Fresh Faces to Watch” list in 2013, they have collected awards from the One Show, Webbys, Royal Television Society, and Cannes Lions. Their film ‘Uncertain’ was awarded the Albert Maysles Best Documentary Director Award at Tribeca and received critical acclaim from The New York Times, Variety, and The Guardian.
In collaborating with clients on both scripted and documentary projects, Anna & Ewan apply the same rigorous attention to the real and unique elements that make an idea authentic.
