Central St Martins and Danish Film School graduate Åsa Riton merges modern art with film in commercials, music videos, and installations. In her work with David Lynch, The Knife and Danish fashion icon Henrik Vibskov she uses strong visual concepts and a playful musicality.
Åsa’s cross disciplinary art project for electronic music pioneer Trentemoller saw the release of a number of music videos, tour projections, and art installations across online platforms, galleries, and global concert venues in a total media experience. The videos were exclusively released on Billboard and Pitchfork, nominated at Berlin Music Video Awards and Berlin Fashion Film Awards, and chosen ‘Best Pick’ by NOWNESS.
Her work has been shown at Tribeca Video Art Film Festival, Atlanta Film Festival, Cannes Film Festival as part of the official ‘Voice of a Woman’ selection and featured in Stereogum, Pitchfork, Noisey, and Vouge. Her film for GANNI at CPH Fashion Week was shown in a gallery as a part of the show.
Åsa is a keen ambassador of Free the Work, a board member of The Swedish Directors Union, and a jury member of Eurobest, Guldägget, Grammy Awards and The Clio Awards.
Currently, Åsa is developing several film projects based on equality; a subject she is deeply involved in.
